Lily Canavan

I can’t imagine my life without climbing in it! I discovered climbing when I was ten years old and almost immediately quit everything else I was doing.

1. What do you do when you are not climbing? (Other hobbies/ sports)

I enjoy baking, eating, and doing weird stuff with my friends. I have also been trying to do more art lately!

2. If you had to name one thing that gets you totally psyched about climbing, what would that be?

There are so many rocks in the world and all of them are different! Every day climbing is a new adventure

3. What is the most memorable climb/ boulder problem that you have ever completed or attempted?

Ricochet in Rifle, Colorado is probably the most beautiful sport climb I have ever done. The moves and path up the route are so interesting, and I climbed it with some really great friends towards the end of a long climbing trip.

4. Do you have any ongoing projects that are just driving you crazy?

I started projecting a route near my house in Burlington, Vermont last fall at an area called Lone Rock. I was really close but then winter came before I could do it. Hopefully I will still be in the area when there is no quarantine and I’ll be able to send it!

5. If you never discovered climbing, what would you be doing now?

10. Why do you climb?

Climbing is fun!! I love the process of figuring out moves and executing them, and I also love being able to share this with my friends while being outside in gorgeous places. I love rocks!
